The European Youth Forum (YFJ) is the biggest regional youth platform in the world. Made up of  103 members, both National Youth Councils and International Non-Governmental Youth Organisations (amongst which ECYC), and with an annual budget of around 3 million €, the European Youth Forum aims mainly to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their own lives by representing and advocating their needs and interest and those of their organisations. At the General Assembly of the European Youth Forum that took place in Varna, Bulgaria, from the 17th to the 20th of November, Andrea Casamenti, who has been working as a project manager, external representative and communication officer for ECYC since late 2014, was elected to the Board of the European Youth Forum for the mandate 2017-2018. As a Board member, Andrea would like to achieve further recognition of youth work, non-formal education and volunteering in Europe. In the upcoming weeks, the portfolios will be clearly divided among the newly elected members of the YFJ Board and Andrea will develop a clear list of activities that will also be shared on the ECYC website.

This is the first time that an ‘ECYC person’ has been elected to the Board of the European Youth Forum and we, the Bureau and Secretariat of ECYC, are extremely proud and happy about this remarkable achievement!
