ECYC's in-depth analysis of youth work at European level

comment(s)

In the past few months, ECYC has conducted a research project on the 'driving forces' of youth work at European level. Who decides on 'youth work' in Europe? What have the main actors achieved so far? To do so, we analysed several policy documents and interviewed representatives of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and more.

The first of our 3 articles, which is already available via this link, focused on the early years of the Council of Europe and its long-standing interest in youth work. How did the Council of Europe come to be the point of reference for 'everything youth work' at European level?

In the second article, we analyse the cooperation between the Council of Europe and the institutions of the European Union. Indeed, few people know that the EU financed transnational youth work activities already in the 1980s and even more so in the 1990s. Has the Council of Europe's work on youth work influenced the EU's vision and interest in it? We strongly believe so. To read the full article, click here.
