Prep meeting working group on youth work and violent radicalisation

comment(s)

A couple of weeks ago, trainers and facilitators joined the ECYC staff for the preparatory meetings that are part of our workplan 2017, mainly financed by the European Youth Foundation. The last activity of this year’s work plan is the meeting of a working group from 25/10 until 28/10/2017 in Brussels, Belgium. This will be a 4-day meeting bringing together youth workers, youth and youth policy makers together with members of the online campaign and participants in the training to reflect, discuss and formulate recommendations towards youth policy directly influencing young people and youth work practice. The group will also meet with representatives of EU institutions such as the European Commission and the Parliament's Youth Intergroup, and with other relevant actors such as the European Youth Forum, for an exchange of ideas on the role, but also the needs of youth work in preventing youth extremist behavior. The main outcome of this group will be a position paper on the preventive role of youth work in dealing with youth extremism and radicalisation. Results from the working group as well as from the meetings will be communicated through the campaign platform.
