The training course is taking place on 8th – 11th of August 2018 (arrival 7th of August, departure 12th of August) in Sibiu, Romania.

The main aim of this training course is to train trainers who have the competences and the motivation to contribute to the improvement of quality youth work in Council of Europe countries.

By participating in this course, trainers will develop and improve their competences in youth work, with a particular focus on prevention of violent extremism and radicalisation. The course includes topics such as:

· youth work and extremism and radicalisation bacis concepts and key terms

· institutions, legislation and research on youth work and the prevention of violent extremism and radicalisation

· the role of youth work and the role of the youth worker in preventing violent extremism and radicalization

· young people: resilience and empowerment

· typology of youth work projects and responses to violent extremism and radicalisation

· and existing support measures in the Council of Europe and other EU programs

In line with the European Training Strategy in the frame of Erasmus+: Youth in Action programme the ToT-course considers the following competences to be essential when working as a non-formal education trainer:

• and intercultural competences

• the competence to co-operate successfully in teams;

• the competence to communicate meaningfully with others;

• the competence to design educational programs;

• the competence to direct one´s own learning (Learning to Learn);

• the competence to understand and facilitate individual and group learning processes;

Participants enter the ToT-course with various levels of prior experience as trainers, as well as competences developed, so consequently, the learning needs of participants are different. The educational approach implemented in the ToT-course intends to allow for these different learning needs to be identified and pursued. The group as a source for peer learning and the trainers as facilitators of these learning processes are essential pillars of this approach.

Participants are expected:

• to have basic knowledge in regards of youth work and the prevention of violent extremism and radicalisation

• to be able to run training courses in English;

• to be prepared to reflect on and question their own beliefs and approaches as trainers;

• to have had international experience in the youth work field;

• to have the potential and need to develop training competences and act after the course as a trainer for their sending organisations;

• to show initiative and willingness to self-direct their own learning process.

Participation in the ECYC 'Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on youth work and prevention of violent radicalization' is a plus for those who want to apply/participate in this ToT. Participation in this training course requires the payment of an enrolment fee of 50€. 

This training course is supported by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. All costs (travels, accommodation, food etc.) are covered, except insurance.
